ScholarMatch is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Community Outreach Coordinator to play an important role in our growing non-profit. The Community Outreach Coordinator will support outreach efforts to high schools, community-based organizations, and other regional partners in the San Francisco Bay Area to connect high school students and volunteers with our college access program. This position reports to the Director of College Access.
This position is ideal for a candidate who has a passion for our mission, strong relationship-building skills, and experience with community outreach. This is a hybrid position and offers flexible hours with remote capability depending on business needs; site presentations, travel to different sites and evenings and weekend hours may be required as needed or necessary to conform with changing priorities and deadlines. The candidate must live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This is a union position and is grant funded until September 30, 2026 with a possible extension based on available funding.
Responsibilities
Outreach, Engagement, & Collaboration
- Promotes, coordinates, and presents ScholarMatch’s programs, activities, and educational materials to neighborhoods, schools, community groups, individuals, and other interested parties
- Coordinates tracking and reviewing student applications, confirming program eligibility, following up with applicants, and facilitating and supporting virtual program information sessions
- Outreach to agencies, organizations, partners, and stakeholders to conduct presentations, both in-person and utilizing online platforms including managing and coordinating invitations and scheduling
- Build relationships and partnerships with high schools, community-based organizations, community residents, local organizations, and community stakeholders
- Facilitates outreach information sessions (both virtual and in-person) for interested parties and attends virtual/in-person CBO convening meetings
- Attend community events (online & in-person) to support program promotion, including high school program and volunteer opportunities
- Assists in working with nonprofit and school partners to identify students eligible for ScholarMatch’s programs, including high school and community college students
- Assists in working with partners and community organizations to identify potential volunteers
- Creates, updates, coordinates, and reviews customized communications kits, templates, and links to promote ScholarMatch programs
- Collaborates with the Communications Manager, Volunteer Manager, and Program Director to disseminate information using digital media platforms including but not limited to the ScholarMatch Website, Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, Twitter, and TikTok
- Responds to inquiries from educators, community members, and other interested parties; when needed, recruit a knowledgeable team member, spokesperson, or information source to assist
Data, Evaluation & Reporting:
- Collect, input, and assess robust outreach data including landscape research, meeting notes, and outreach attempts to improve HS and CBO relationships
- In collaboration with the Director of College Access, utilize data and anecdotal experiences to discern the best fit for high school & CBO future partnerships
- Prepares professional, complete, concise, and accurate data reports, proposals, calendar invites, and other documentation as required for team presentations
- Meticulously track all community relations activities and report recommendations and changes
- Track outreach and engagement data including analyzing costs of outreach tactics and provide recommendations for future outreach tactics
- Conduct various outreach and engagement surveys to students, community members, educators, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
