After 15 years as a marketing executive with General Mills/Pillsbury, Walt Disney, and Sony Music, Karen leveraged her marketing experience and passion for education to establish an educational consulting firm, Right College ChoiceTM. Karen firmly believes that ‘there is a college for everyone.’ This belief is rooted in her first-generation student journey, which includes earning a B.A. degree from Boston College, an MBA from Atlanta University, and a certificate in college counseling. She instills this belief in her students, guiding them to find their fit in higher education. Karen was the Lead Counselor at a new charter high school where she created the college counseling program. She was previously a member of NACAC and WACAC and is a member of MACAC (Michigan). She has presented at regional and national conferences, sharing her expertise and insights on first-generation students. For over 7 years, Karen has dedicated her time as a volunteer coach at ScholarMatch and is the Board chair-emeritus of ScholarMatch. She is also a Distinguished instructor in the graduate-level college counseling certificate program at UCLA Extension.
