It’s a time for celebration — ScholarMatch students are headed to college!

College acceptances are trickling in at ScholarMatch, and our students couldn’t be any more excited to see their hard work pay off. From attending local colleges right here in California to flying across the country to experience a change of scenery, our students are on their path to success!

Meet some of our incredible students to learn how they dream big and engage with their community and where they’re starting their college journeys in Fall 2020!

Astrid is all-smiles because of her acceptance to Mills College! 🎓

Astrid N., San Francisco, CA

In her free time, Astrid loves to read and write — you can find her writing fictional stories or reading to kids in her local community. She hopes to continue her love for reading and writing by pursuing an English degree at Mills, an all-women’s college in Oakland, CA.

Samrawit scores a college acceptance to Dominican University! ⚽️

Samrawit M., San Francisco, CA

Samrawit loves to exercise: If she’s not at the gym, you might just find her running around a soccer field. Samrawit may even consider joining her school’s soccer team! But, in the meantime, she’s excited to pursue a degree in pre-medicine at the Dominican University of California.

David can’t wait to become a Golden Bear 🐻

David M., Daly City, CA

A jack of all trades, David enjoys playing volleyball, engaging in community service, and taking dancing classes! He’s excited to bring his enthusiasm and love for trying new things to UC Berkeley and looks forward to getting involved on-campus.

Los Angeles native Noemi is heading to Bucknell University ✈️

Noemi P., Los Angeles, CA

Noemi is a true force in her community: Not only does she serve as a youth reporter for a local, bilingual newspaper, she also volunteers at various county hospitals in Los Angeles. This Posse Scholar is ready to make big moves in Pennsylvania!

Luis is ready to tackle his first year at Cal Poly Pomona 🐴

Luis D., Los Angeles, CA

Luis is no stranger to doing big things: He’s a youth entrepreneur who’s won a first place prize with Project ECHO, serves on the steering committee for the Boyle Heights Building Healthy Communities coalition, and is the captain of the boys’ varsity swim team at his school. We’re ready to see what other huge feats he accomplishes at Cal Poly Pomona!

Alex is joining the UC Berkeley family 💙💛

Alex O., San Francisco, CA

Alex can’t wait to pursue her college dreams! Having migrated to the United States from Mexico when she was 15, Alex knew the importance of working hard so she could attain a higher education. Her passion for political activism and student advocacy drives her interest in majoring in Sociology while at Cal.

Paola is prepared to make a difference at CSU Sacramento ✊🏽

Paola J., Los Angeles, CA

This trailblazer spent much of her high school career participating in politically engaged programs, like Innercity Struggle and United Students. Her passion to enact social change sparks her interest in majoring in Political Science or Education while she studies in California’s state capitol.

Congratulations students! We are so incredibly excited for you to begin this next journey in your life. Reach for the stars!
