College Coach

Support high school students in-person

Applying to college takes just a few hours but it can change a student’s life forever. As a College Coach, you’re at the heart of this transformation, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with high school students as they explore college options, and complete essays, applications and financial aid paperwork.

College Coaches work in-person at our San Francisco center, and commit to volunteering several times throughout a semester. Sessions take place on weekday evenings and select Saturdays. View the calendar.

Virtual College Coach

Support high school students virtually

Through our virtual college advising program, we are bringing vital services to students across the country previously without access. As a virtual coach, you will be matched with an incoming high school senior and equipped with thorough training and support from our staff. You and your student will communicate through our online platform as you navigate the college admissions process together. From building a strong college list to perfecting the personal statement, you will provide essential guidance and moral support to a promising but under-resourced student. This opportunity is a great fit for busy professionals. Volunteers commit approximately 2-4 hours per month from Summer 2017 – Summer 2018, and create life-changing opportunities for students.

Career Coach

Career Mentor a college student

For under-resourced students, the transition from college to career can be daunting. As a Career Coach, your industry-specific mentorship gives college juniors and seniors a priceless advantage as they prepare to enter the workforce. Coaches connect with their mentee in-person or virtually and commit to a total of 5-10 hours throughout the course of the program. Demand varies as Career Coaches will be matched according to need and professional expertise. Most matches are made during spring and summer months. If you are a busy professional, this is a wonderful volunteer opportunity that can be flexible with your schedule!

Support Our Scholars

Our students have overcome great obstacles to be where they are today. Ready for college, with just one final barrier: the cost of tuition. On average, a gap of just $2700 separates their financial aid packages and their dreams of higher education.
