Program Overview

The ScholarMatch LA Scholars Program is a FREE program designed to help scholars thrive in college and graduate successfully with the skills needed to succeed in a fulfilling career.

 

How it Works

LA scholars will join small-group cohorts in monthly virtual workshops. Through this opportunity, scholars can share experiences, seek advice, and build their support network in college. Scholars will also receive personalized support from ScholarMatch college advisors and peer mentors, and will be able to access a basic needs grant.

Program Commitment

The ScholarMatch LA Scholars program is currently a two-year program. Scholars should expect to commit to attending monthly cohort sessions during their first and second years in college.

Eligibility

Join our free LA Scholars Program!

To be eligible for the ScholarMatch LA Scholars Program, students must:

  • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent holds a four-year degree)
  • Have a GPA of 2.0+
  • Graduate from a Southeast Los Angeles high school in the class of 2025 and be admitted to a four-year college immediately after
  • Have a family income below the median for Los Angeles County (e.g. less than $98,200 for a family of four)

Application Requirements

  • Ensure you meet our minimum eligibility requirements listed above
  • Complete and submit an application comprised of demographic information and short questions

These sessions were designed to introduce scholars to important tools, resources, and strategies that can help students succeed. Topics will include how to register for classes, creating an academic plan, college study skills, making connections on campus, managing financial aid and a college budget, time management, career planning, and more!
