Virtual College Coach
Volunteer online and impact a student’s future with just a few hours per month.
What is a Virtual College Coach?
As a virtual College Coach, you will work remotely with two high school seniors to support them through the college admissions process – from building a balanced college list to perfecting the personal statement to applying for financial aid. Our team will match you to your students over the summer and equip you with training and support throughout the year.
This program operates in partnership with CollegePoint, a Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative. Coaches and students are based across the US but are bonded together through our online community. The flexibility of virtual volunteering works well for busy professionals.
The time commitment is 4-6 hours per month for one year starting in June.
College Coaches must hold a bachelor’s degree, commit to supporting two students from July 2019 through June 2020, complete our sequence of online trainings, and pass a background check.
ScholarMatch selects volunteers based on our program capacity and discretion. Volunteer candidates are not guaranteed a spot in the program even if they meet all of these requirements.
In partnership with CollegePoint, ScholarMatch provides free, individualized, virtual college admission counseling to low-income, high-achieving students nationwide. The CollegePoint initiative is sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and serves over 12,000 students per year.
